Etymology
Onyeanuna is derived from the Igbo word Onye (A person/someone) + aṅụna (to not taunt or gloat).
Cultural context
There is a saying which appears to have arisen from colonial times: "Onye aṅụna nga ma oyibo anaghị" which is roughly translates as "none should taunt the prison if the white man hasn't left". Which conveys the idea that in so far the white man is still around, there will always be reason/justification for your imprisonment.
